The key to a longer, more energetic life

Longevity – They can grow old later

At the heart of longevity research is a profound question: why do we age? Over the past decade, researchers have identified key biological processes known to be hallmarks of aging that drive cellular decline. Understanding these mechanisms opens up extraordinary opportunities to slow aging and improve healthspan. Longevity redefines what is possible in preventive and regenerative medicine.

Discover a science that can become a fountain of youth for you. The vision behind it: You remain youthful and powerful, healthy and vital, independent and full of life energy. Growth instead of infirmity. A racing bike instead of a rollator. Motorhome instead of retirement home. A zest for life instead of the frustration of old age. True to the motto:

Age is just a number!

Stay young

For everything you love!

Preventing seemingly inevitable age-related diseases from developing in the first place through early preventive measures? Is that even possible?

Many such complaints start 20 years before the first symptoms appear. Two decades in which we can take preventive action and minimize risk factors; in which we can slow down your cellular aging and literally turn back your biological age. Become a little younger every day with ORIGIN HEALTH!

The hallmarks of aging

A central focus of longevity medicine is on slowing down cellular ageing. Cellular senescence describes the state in which cells stop dividing and suffer a loss of function. These “aged” cells contribute to chronic inflammation, which is associated with many age-related diseases, such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes and neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease. In longevity medicine, targeted measures are being researched to remove these cells (e.g. using senolytics) or to minimize their harmful effects.

mTOR (mammalian Target of Rapamycin):
This signaling pathway regulates cell growth and protein synthesis. Studies show that inhibition of mTOR (e.g. by the drug rapamycin) can extend the lifespan of animals and slow down age-related diseases. Rapamycin reduces the activity of this signaling pathway and thus mimics the effects of calorie restriction, which is also considered a life-prolonging measure.
.

AMPK (AMP-activated protein kinase):
AMPK plays a key role in the energy metabolism of cells. It activates cellular cleansing processes (autophagy) that remove damaged cell components and thus promote cell health. Activation of AMPK (e.g. by metformin or regular exercise) has been shown in studies to slow down the ageing process by reducing inflammation and improving insulin sensitivity.
.

Sirtuins (e.g. SIRT1):
Sirtuins are enzymes that regulate the ageing process at the cellular level by promoting DNA repair and controlling inflammation. Sirtuins are activated by substances such as resveratrol and play a crucial role in prolonging life, as has been shown in numerous animal models.

Telomeres are the end caps of our chromosomes, which become shorter with each cell division and thus represent a kind of “biological clock”. Telomeres and telomerase are at the interface of critical processes that underlie chromosome integrity, cancer and ageing.

Their importance was recognized by the 2009 Nobel Prize awarded to Elizabeth Blackburn, Jack Szostak and Carol Greider.

Longevity medicine knows more and more ways of activating telomerase in order to lengthen telomeres and thus slow down the cell ageing process.

As we age, systemic inflammation in the body increases, also known as “inflammaging”. These chronic inflammatory processes accelerate the ageing process and lead to a variety of age-related diseases.

Longevity medicine focuses specifically on strategies to reduce inflammation, for example through special nutritional approaches, exercise, omega-3 fatty acids or anti-inflammatory substances such as curcumin and resveratrolor the highly specialized use of drugs such as rapamycin.

A central goal of longevity medicine is to optimize metabolic health in order to prevent diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease and obesity. Maintaining insulin sensitivity is particularly important here, as impaired insulin action is common with increasing age and contributes to many degenerative processes.

Preventive measures here include an adapted diet (such as ketogenic diets or intermittent fasting), exercise and the use of substances such as metformin, which has been shown to improve insulin sensitivity and reduce the risk of diabetes.

Another key component of longevity medicine is personalization. Every person ages differently and it is therefore important to tailor preventive and therapeutic measures to the individual patient.

We use advanced diagnostics such as genetic analyses, microbiome analyses and epigenetic tests to create detailed health profiles. These tests give us deep insights into your specific strengths as well as risks, such as genetic predispositions to cardiovascular diseases, cancer or neurodegenerative diseases.

Based on this data, we develop highly individualized prevention and longevity strategies for you.

Every day, biological waste accumulates in our bodies – damaged proteins, faulty cell components and even entire mitochondria that no longer fulfill their function. Under normal circumstances, a highly complex cleaning system – autophagy – ensures that this cellular waste is efficiently broken down and recycled. However, as we age, this process comes to a standstill – with far-reaching consequences for our health.

If autophagy no longer functions properly, waste products are left behind, inflammatory processes are triggered and at some point the entire cell function suffers. Ageing is therefore not only a question of time, but also of the efficiency of autophagy.

The exciting thing: We can influence this process. Through fasting, targeted nutrient intake and even certain medications, we can reactivate autophagy and thus maintain cell health. Autophagy is therefore an essential aspect of vital, efficient ageing.

Longevity
knowledge. creates. health

Our understanding of the molecular and cellular basis of ageing has increased exponentially in recent years. It is becoming increasingly clear that ageing is a malleable process. It can be significantly accelerated by an unhealthy lifestyle and corresponding factors in our lives. We can also have a positive impact on it and actively slow down the ageing process – or even reverse it. What do you choose?

Origin Health’s Longevity Medicine is based on state-of-the-art research and the latest scientific findings. Groundbreaking studies in genetics, cell biology and biotechnology are constantly providing new ways to actively influence the ageing process. We continuously monitor these developments and integrate the most innovative methods into our longevity programs.

State-of-the-art approaches

The future of medicine begins now

Some of the approaches we pursue at ORIGIN HEALTH in the area of longevity – under the direction of Dr. Manuel Puntschuh:

We use this molecule in carefully balanced doses to slow down cell aging by inhibiting the mTOR signaling pathway and thus support cell regeneration.

Several epidemiological studies have shown that metformin reduces the incidence of various age-related diseases as well as overall mortality. It is important to note that this phenomenon was not only observed in diabetic patients, but also in non-diabetics.

To enable as many people as possible around the world to live longer healthy lives, we need to prevent a number of common chronic diseases that are directly and indirectly linked to ageing, including diabetes and obesity.

GLP-1 agonists
have proven to be beneficial not only for weight loss and type 2 diabetes: They have also been approved for the targeted reduction of cardiovascular risk. In addition, there is strong evidence of several positive effects, including the inhibition of silent inflammation as a major driver of ageing.

Not all cells in your body work as they should. Some lose their function but do not die, but remain in the body. There they cause damage instead of being broken down. These so-called “zombie cells”, also known as senescent cells, accelerate the ageing process, promote inflammation and increase the risk of age-related diseases such as joint pain, cardiovascular disease or cognitive impairment.

Fortunately, science is providing more and more insights into how these problematic cells can be specifically eliminated.

There is now ample evidence that a decrease in cellular nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) is a hallmark of ageing and may play a role in this process. NAD+ plays a critical role in cell metabolism and is a co-substrate for enzymes that play a key role in signaling pathways that influence aging. Therefore, interventions such as NAD+ infusions that increase your NAD+ levels may slow down aspects of the aging process.
Ageing is characterized by the progressive loss of physiological capacity. At the cellular level, one of the main features of the ageing process is the shortening of telomere length. Our therapies rely on the latest findings on telomere lengthening to prevent or reverse this process. For example, repeated intermittent hyperoxic exposures using certain hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) protocols can induce regenerative effects.
We use clinically proven, evidence-based longevity technologies that can have a major impact on your health as you age. This includes, for example, devices that follow the principle of hormesis and provide controlled stimuli – such as IHHT mitochondrial elevation training. This strengthens your cell resilience and optimizes mitochondrial function – essential for longevity and sustained energy.

Hormesis works according to the old principle: “What doesn’t kill us makes us stronger.” This is a law of nature that works everywhere – from the smallest cell to the largest ecosystem:

Resistance is not the enemy, but the condition for strength.

The idea behind this is that small amounts of stress activate adaptation processes that promote resilience and resistance in the long term.

Nature itself provides an illustrative picture: In a completely wind-protected environment, trees grow straight, but weakly. Without the constant pressure of gusts of wind and storms, they do not develop resistant wood and their roots do not reach deep enough into the earth. However, trees that are regularly exposed to wind and weather develop stronger trunks, deeper roots and are able to withstand even the toughest storm.

The same principle applies to the human body and mind. Those who never expose themselves to cold remain sensitive to cold and susceptible to infection. Those who never fast remain metabolically inflexible. Those who never face a mental challenge remain mentally sluggish.

Hormesis is the law of nature that forces us to grow beyond ourselves – into longevity.

Such “stress” stimuli in the body that activate the important signaling pathways of longevity are:

  • Fasting – Intermittent fasting
  • Heat – deep infrared therapy,
  • Cold – Cryotherapy
  • Controlled hypoxia (oxygen deficiency) – IHHT | HBOT

We use these stimuli in a targeted and controlled manner in Longevity Medicine.
